Tonight is our interactive evening with poet Eve Jones, presented by Prose/Poem, on Monday, 5/12, 7-9 PM, at the Mud House, 2101 Cherokee St.

This is an after-hours event for the Mud House, so there’ll be no food, but plenty of beveragey-goodness. BYOB, if you like.

If you are looking for food before the event, check out some of these neighborhood favorites:

  • Neveria La Vallesana – 2801 Cherokee Street
  • Taqueria El Bronco – 2812 Cherokee Street

These are open before and after (until 10 PM):

We’ll see you soon!

Poets and Writers: The Night Is Young, but the Deadline Approaches

There’s still time to send in your response pieces for the Eve Jones reading on Monday night. So, sit right down and that poem or short-short you’ve been working on before you head out for your Saturday night activities, you minx!

E-mail your response piece to sarahkuntzjones at gmail dot com.

Invitation for Art

As you may be aware, we had a call for art in response to Eve Jones’s poems that closed on 4.19.14 so that we could open a call for poems and short-short stories in response to the artwork. We’re delighted with the pieces that were submitted and would like to thank:

Andi Kozak – sassyandi.com

Mark Swain – markswainarts.blogspot.com

Daryl Tegtmeier

Now that phase II (the call for literary submissions) is underway, we would like to invite anyone still interested to submit their artwork in response to Eve Jones’s poems. These submissions will still be displayed at the event on May 12, but they will not be included in the writers’ responses.

Send work via e-mail to sarahkuntzjones at gmail dot com by 11:59 PM on 5.10.14.

Literature for the Halibut Streaming

Literature for the Halibut Streaming

Thanks to all those who listened and supported Prose/Poem (and me) last night on Literature for the Halibut. (And a massive thank you to Nicky Rainey and Eli!) If you missed it, you can still check the 4/7 show through 4/21 via KDHX’s streaming archive. The show included details on the Prose/Poem reading event series, the call for art, a reading of Eve Jones’s “Sleeping Giant” and “August Letter to My Solider in These Difficult Times,” as well as, a reading of two of my own flash fiction pieces. Action-packed fun, right?

Call for Visual Art Submissions – Due 4.19.14

Call for Visual Art Submissions – Due 4.19.14

We are delighted to be hosting a reading by poet Eve Jones on May 12, 2014, and we would like to do something fantastic to mark the occasion:

We are asking for visual art submissions in response to Eve’s work. There are four poems posted on her website and linked to this post. Why don’t you stroll over there and take a moment to read these vivid, image-rich poems? If you’re moved to do it, create a visual response to one (two, three, four?) of them, and submit your work digitally to sarahkuntzjones at gmail dot com by 11:59 PM on Saturday, April 19. On the 20th, these images will be shared with the writing community (their own call for submissions will be posted shortly), and they’ll respond to your work. In culmination of this project, work will be shown and read at the event on May 12, 2014, at the Mud House, 2101 Cherokee Street.

To sum up:

  • Respond to one of the poems (in this link) in a visual piece
  • Digitally submit your work via e-mail (sarahkuntzjones at gmail dot com)
  • Deadline: April 19, 11:59 PM
  • Reading/viewing event on May 12, 7-9 PM
