Meet the Readers – November Edition

The last reading of 2015 is right around the corner (don’t worry–there’ll be plenty next year).

We’re thrilled to bring you Michaella A. Thornton and Steven D. Schroeder on Tuesday, 11/3. You’ll find us soaking up their work from 7:30-9 PM in the gallery at Stone Spiral.

Michaella A. Thornton lives in St. Louis, Missouri, where she teaches first-year composition and creative writing. She received her MFA from the University of Arizona and an O.O. McIntyre Postgraduate Writing Fellowship from the Missouri School of Journalism. Her essays and short stories have appeared, or are forthcoming, most recently in The Southeast Review, Creative Nonfiction, Words Matter: Writing to Make A Difference (University of Missouri Press), and elsewhere. Kella is a fan of boozy baking, badassery, and books. You can hear why she loves language here, and her website is michaellathornton.com.

Steven D. Schroeder’s second book, The Royal Nonesuch (Spark Wheel Press, 2013), won the 2014 Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award from Southern Illinois University. His poetry is available from New England Review, Pleiades, and Barrow Street, among others. He serves as a board member and contributing editor for River Styx magazine, co-directs the River Styx Reading Series, and works as a Certified Professional Résumé Writer.

Take our advice: Don’t miss this.
