Meet the Readers – September Edition

Tomorrow night, 9/15, Prose|Poem’s fall schedule kicks off at 7:30 PM at the Stone Spiral Gallery! We couldn’t be more happy to bring you Brigitte Leschhorn and Cheeraz Gormon.

Brigitte Leschhorn is currently an English teacher at local private school. She was runner up for Boulevard’s 2013 Short Fiction Contest for Emerging Writers. She has been published in Boulevard Magazine and Crab Orchard Review.

“Cheeraz’s poetry has been featured in the St. Louis Black Pages, on independent radio in St. Louis, MO, London, England and Portland, OR, and at Huffington Post and Ebony Magazine online. She has opened events for the likes of Dr. Cornel West, Dr. Denis Kimbro, Dead Prez, KRS-1, and was the poet for the “Unchained Memories” tour sponsored by HBO and the Library of Congress in 2003. Cheeraz, was also named East London Slam Champion of 2004 and scored a perfect 30 in the UK Poet Slam. In 2014, Cheeraz was one of 9 featured speakers and performers for TEDXGatewayArch in St. Louis, MO. February 2015 Cheeraz was named by St. Louis Poet Laureate, Michael Castro, as one of the next generation of poets to watch.  Her much-anticipated, self-published first book, In The Midst of Loving, was released on March 14, 2015, and is available on Amazon.com and locally in St. Louis at UrbArts, Vintage Vinyl, Subterranean Books, Left Bank Books, Mesa Home and Golden Grocer.”
